Abnormal uterine bleeding
The overall mission of the Uterine biology group is to improve womens reproductive health. Studies aim to improve contraceptive choices for women and to develop strategies to overcome infertility, endometrial bleeding problems and endometriosis.
This group focuses on the biology of the endometrium, particularly as it relates to the process of embryo implantation; thus the work has long-term implications for fertility and infertility. Other studies are examining the remodelling of the uterus, relating to abnormal uterine bleeding and also uterine cancer. In 2005, the group consists of 6 scientists, 5 PhD students, 8 research assistants and a research nurse.
