Prince Henry’s Institute is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Officer with a strong biochemistry background and protease characterisation skills. As a member of the Uterine Biology Laboratory, headed by Prof. Lois Salamonsen and supervised by Senior Research Fellow Guiying Nie, the position will lead a research project studying the biochemistry and physiological role of a novel serine protease (Htr3) that is implicated in placental development and pregnancy-related disorders. The mission of the Uterine Biology group is to improve women’s reproductive health with a focus on the biology of the uterus during the establishment of pregnancy. In particular, the group is investigating how the uterus is controlled and how it works during the processes of embryo implantation and placental development.

The successful candidate will have experience in protein expression, purification and characterisation including fractionation methods such as SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA development and general quantitative assay methods. Previous experience in areas of embryo implantation and placental development will be advantageous as well as a strong background in biochemistry and protease characterisation.  

The salary level for this appointment will be in the range of $55,687 - $59,776 gross per annum according to qualifications and experience.  Prince Henry’s Institute offers excellent salary packaging benefits with further employer co-contributions to superannuation available after a 3 month probationary period.
